What I Have Been Seeing From My Back Porch

In the last year and a half, it seems to me that the government, society, the electronic age and the voices of a few have had a mission and they have almost succeeded! These entities have just about robbed us, each of us personally, and collectively, of our humanity as a people. We have been told that science dictates we must wear a mask. That means no smiles of hello, no comfort, no encouragement between us. We must stay away from those we love, no hugging, no breaking bread together. That in itself is a basic human thing to do. We as a family whether by blood or by spirit need comfort, to share a joy, to discuss worldly issues, agreeing sometimes to disagree. We need to come together in the best of times and the worst of times. We as human beings need each other. When I sit down for my first cup of tea in the morning with a robot, an electronic being, that’s the day I throw in the towel.

I absolutely believe human beings are God’s creation; created in His image and given free will. I don’t believe the government, society, or electronics have any right to even try to make us over; no right to try and tamper with our minds, our hearts, our hands and even our souls. Science now even says we must get a shot in the arm of a substance that no one knows much about. The powers that be are puny compared to the power of God. It doesn’t matter how many people of science, or how many letters people have after their name. Their power is pitiful compared to God.

I believe in the power of God and can see through the changes every season brings outside my window. Every spring arrives with new life in nature and I marvel at all it brings and at the perfect time. In the heat of the summer months, I see and hear raging storms of down pouring rains with lightening and thunder, but yet peace in the night sky filled with the magic of fireflies and stars. When fall begins and the air changes, I feel a little chill and the smell of grapes and apples and asters make working outside a delight to the senses. Everything is so busy and everyday is new and crisp, and the colors are changing constantly. And then in winter as the calendar year comes to a close, I see God’s power in the uniqueness of each snowflake that creates mountains outside my porch. I see it in the beauty of sunlight sparkling on icicles.

I have absolute faith in the unseen to search and find the small powerful things God blesses us with. I don’t have to search very far. They are outside my window everyday. I will not let government, society, the electronic age and the voices of a few to carry out their mission. I’m too old, smart, and independent, and have had enough life experience (good and bad things) to be told by a machine or a series of machines what to do and what to think in the name of science; science interpreted by a few officials that enjoy their power and can push buttons. That’s the way I see it from my back porch!
